About the Project

Shortly after closing on their new home in the Castro District of San Francisco, the homeowners approached Lee & Co. with a vision for transforming their newly purchased Victorian property. The goal was to create an open-concept space that seamlessly connected the kitchen and dining areas, while maintaining the historic charm of the home.

The homeowners desired an open, airy layout, but the existing structure made that challenging. Lee & Co. worked closely with the structural engineer to find a cost-effective solution that opened up the kitchen and dining room without compromising the integrity of the home. While modernizing the kitchen, it was crucial to preserve the original Victorian details in the dining room. This required custom milling to match the existing trim, ensuring that the new elements harmonized with the historical architecture. Given that the renovation followed the purchase of the home, the budget was a key factor. Lee & Co. worked within these constraints, carefully balancing the clients’ design goals with cost-effective solutions.
